Footage has emerged from Leeds United’s training ground of forward Tyler Roberts scoring a tremendous volley from outside the box.
Roberts has continued his rise in prominence over the past few weeks by demonstrating his talents on the training ground, as Leeds prepare for the visit of Blackburn to Elland Road on Saturday.
Roberts has been in fine form since his return to the starting XI in recent weeks, after his full recovery from a long injury lay-off. The Welsh international missed the start of the season after requiring fluid to be drained from his knee at the end of last season.
His return to the first-team came when he came off the bench in Leeds’ 1-0 defeat to Charlton in September, since then he has featured in all but one game. Roberts was an unused sub in the 0-0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday as Leeds looked to hold on for the point and couldn’t risk an attacking substitution.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been much better for his inclusion, seeing much more attacking impetus and pace on the ball, along with a fearlessness that some of the other players haven’t been able to replicate in his absence.
The footage that has emerged came from the player’s own Instagram, where he uploaded training ground footage to his story, showing him receive a pass outside the box and strike a left-footed half-volley into the top-right corner, leaving the goalkeeper rooted.
This clip is just another example of the immense talent Roberts has and how much of a valuable asset he is to this Leeds team going forward. There had been calls for him to start against QPR at the weekend, and those calls were justified when his goal helped the Whites to a comfortable 2-0 win.
Roberts will be keen to add to his tally of one goal in Leeds next game and would certainly like to replicate his exploits in training, translating it to the Elland Road pitch.
