Leeds United were dealt a frustrating injury blow, with Football Insider revealing that Luke Ayling is still a month away from returning to action for the first-team.

The right-back is yet to feature for Marcelo Bielsa's side in this year's campaign, although Leeds have coped without him it seems.

The Whites are currently sat third in the Championship table, and will be hoping they can make a long-awaited return to the Premier League this term.

But the Elland Road faithful shouldn't be too concerned with this latest update on Ayling's recovery, as they have a player in their squad that is certainly staking a strong claim for a regular starting spot in Bielsa's team.

That player is Stuart Dallas. The Northern Irishman will be hoping that he can continue to impress in his spell in the starting XI, and has certainly caught the eye with a number of strong performances at both ends of the pitch.

The full-back fits the criteria perfectly for a player that is suited to Marcelo Bielsa's style of football, with his energy in wide areas of the pitch being a real threat for Leeds so far this season.

Dallas already has a goal to his name in their league campaign to date, as he finished off an excellent team move against Stoke City.

This was just one example of the 28-year-old's attacking instincts that were on show, and he'll be confident of replicating this form as the season heads towards the festive period.

Dallas has recently signed a new four-year deal with the Yorkshire-based side, which the makeshift right-back has certainly deserved after his recent performances.

Ayling could well have a difficult job of forcing his way back into the starting XI if Dallas can continue to impress, which will provide Marcelo Bielsa with a welcome selection dilemma.

There's no doubting that Ayling is an excellent option to have in the Leeds squad, as he brings experience and consistency to the Whites' defensive line.

But as a manager, you cannot afford to drop players that are performing to a high standard on a consistent basis, which Dallas is doing so far in this year's campaign.

It'll be interesting to see where Ayling fits back into the Leeds team when he returns from injury, but it can't be a bad thing for the Marcelo Bielsa to be facing a selection dilemma as they look to win promotion from the Championship this term.
