Marcelo Bielsa’s revolution at Leeds United has started off at lightening speed, with three wins from three in all competitions.

One of the fundamental changes the new head coach has implemented during his brief spell at Elland Road so far is a breathless style of play.

Leeds’ players are instructed to move the ball at a high tempo and close down and chase whenever possible.

Patrick Bamford commented after the Whites’ 2-1 win in the Carabao Cup over Bolton Wanderers, what the Argentine boss demands from his side.

The striker told BBC reporter John Bennett: “Just imagine everything is sprinting… You need to be doing EVERYTHING at the fastest possible speed.”

This high octane approach is something fans need to be wary of.

Supporters need to embrace what the head coach is trying to do but with a little trepidation.

Is it sustainable? Is a question the fans need to be asking themselves.

Now, sure it is fine when the weather is pleasant, and the pitches could be mistaken for carpet.

But what toll will it take when in the winter months when the rain is of biblical proportion and the pitches are cut up and boggier than those on the local park.

Fans need to consider if this high-intensity method of training and playing will make it to the end of the season without burn out or significant injury.

There is no getting away from the positive start Leeds have had, and that should be something positive for supporters to celebrate.

Having said that, the Elland Road faithful must remain curious and watch with a keen eye on the progression and continuity of the side until the months that matter have been and gone.
