Leeds United currently sit in third place, behind Sheffield United on goal difference, but with a game in hand on Chris Wilder's side.

With the Blades and Norwich City both winning convincingly last weekend the Whites are now tasked with playing catch-up and the pressure will surely be starting to build on those tasked with taking them back to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.

But stories from the January transfer window still continue to distract from more pressing on-field matters.

On Tuesday news broke that Swansea City were set to offer winger and Leeds target Daniel James a new contract in an attempt to stave off future interest from the Whites.

The 21-year-old was incredibly close to moving to Elland Road on transfer deadline day during January but the Swans pulled the plug on the deal right at the last second.

But what should the Leeds faithful think of this latest news?

This is a story that looks like it is going to rumble on and on until the summer transfer window opens with nothing new likely to come of it.

So why then, should Leeds fans continue to care? Well, the reality is that they shouldn't.

As much as they would have liked to have seen James arrive in January, the fact is that he did not and it is time to move on.

Marcelo Bielsa may well still want to sign him. Rightly so. The 21-year-old is clearly very talented. But he will not arrive until the end of the season, if at all, and with Leeds still in with a real chance of promotion, attention needs to be on the pitch and nowhere else.
