Leeds United have struggled to obtain the quality of players fans had grown accustomed to seeing during their tenure in the Premier League, with heroes at Elland Road harder to come by these days.

However one man who has established an affinity with the Whites faithful in the past few years is Swedish defender Pontus Jansson, who today celebrates his 27th birthday.

The Swedish international arrived at Elland Road in the summer of 2016 from Italian side Torino, and quickly established himself as a starter under former boss Garry Monk in West Yorkshire.

Continuing to impress following Monk’s departure, Jansson has grown into one of the most consistent performers in the Leeds United squad, with the player more often than not the first name on the team sheet when available for selection.
