Leeds United won't have it easy in their pursuit of signing Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan, with Premier League side Burnley now keen on signing the player, as per Football Insider.

The 23-year-old has been in superb form for the U's this season in League One as Karl Robinson's side look to gain promotion to the Championship.

The Manchester-born player has notched seven goals and six assists in 36 appearances this campaign, and is being looked at by Bielsa's Leeds though Burnley have now been linked with a move.

Formerly of Liverpool, Brannagan has really evolved as a player at Oxford and has been a consistent figure in the heart of their midfield, with Football Insider suggesting that the club may have to lower their £3-5million valuation.

Sean Dyche's Burnley currently sit in tenth spot in the Premier League table and are eyeing a goalscoring midfielder and Brannagan is now on their radar.

The verdict

You can see why interest is growing in Brannagan who is becoming a real standout star in the EFL.

The 23-year-old offers grit and bite in midfield, whilst also an effective output in an attacking sense with his creativity and goalscoring ability evident.

The lure of Premier League football will no doubt entice the former Reds man, and you feel Leeds would need to ensure promotion if they were to beat Burnley to his signature.

Anything lower than £5m would be a coup for either club, considering his form and potential to improve and develop even more as a player.
