Leeds United are looking to bring in young French right-back Enzo Valentim as they try to strengthen ahead of the window.

The 18-year-old came through at Tours and made two appearances for the first-team before moving on to play for Reims II, who are in the fourth tier of French football. However, he has also represented the French national team in younger age groups over the years including the U18s most recently.

And, his form has caught the eye of scouts at Elland Road, with Football Insider claiming that the Whites have been tracking the player after some of his displays over the past few months.

Should any deal be agreed, it would be expected that Valentim would go straight into the successful Leeds U23 side, although Marcelo Bielsa has shown since taking over that he does not hesitate in giving youngsters a chance if they impress in training and development games.

The likes of Jack Clarke, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Jamie Shackleton all emerged from Carlos Corberan's side to feature last season.

The Verdict

Even though Leeds fans will be hoping for additions to the first-team, it's still a positive that they are looking to recruit for the U23s.

It is something that they have really picked up on in the past 18 months or so and they appear to be putting a lot of focus on making the academy even better.

So, if they think that Valentim is a good signing then it's a deal they should pursue and the fact he has represented France highlights the talent is there.

Meanwhile, Leeds will be an attractive option to the player as they have shown there is a pathway to the first-team.
