Leeds United could sign Jack Harrison on a permanent deal if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

That's the view of The Athletic writer Phil Hay who has been discussing the future of the 23-year-old.

Harrison is enjoying his second season at Elland Road as he looks to play his part in securing a move to the top flight for the Whites.

The winger has been an ever-present for Marcelo Bielsa's side this term after making 20 appearances for Leeds United already this season.

In that time, Harrison has scored four goals and picked up four assists along the way - a tally which included scoring the winning goal in Tuesday night's victory over Reading.

Harrison is contracted to Manchester City, but with opportunities at the first team level limited, it seems that Pep Guardiola's team are open to letting him move on.

Phil Hay was conducting a Q&A for The Athletic when he revealed that Leeds United have an option to make Jack Harrison's loan deal permanent, something which he claims could happen if promotion is achieved.

Asked about his price tag, Hay said: "Not sure of the exact price but Leeds have the option to sign him permanently. Bielsa is a big fan of his so I’d imagine that he’d look for the club to exercise it if they go up.”

The verdict

There's no doubting the impact that Jack Harrison has made this season.

The winger has proven himself to be a key player for Leeds United and he'll no doubt be crucial to any hopes of securing promotion.

If Marcelo Bielsa's side do reach the Premier League he'll be looking for players who he can rely on, and the Man City loanee certainly falls into that category.
