Cheltenham Town's Mohamed Eisa has become a target for Leeds United, according to The News, Portsmouth.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Whaddon Road with Sunderland and Portsmouth both interested.

Peterborough had initial interest in Eisa but moved on after their £1 million offer was rejected leaving just Pompey and the Black Cats interested.

Eisa scored 23 goals last season in League One for the Robins, and it has now emerged that Leeds have joined the race for the highly-rated striker.

Marco Bielsa is on the lookout for reinforcements amidst a quiet transfer window thus far at Elland Road.

Eisa would fit the bill and would be a cheaper - and younger - option to that of reported target Matej Vydra, but that has since cooled after reported inflated wage demands.

The Verdict

Leeds persuing Eisa would make it nigh on impossible for the interested League One clubs to secure the signing of the former non-league hot-shot.

Bielsa and Leeds have had a poor transfer window so far with their fans wondering if they are going to add to a squad that is desperate for investment.

Should Eisa pick Leeds, it would be a big step up to the Championship, but we have seen other players do it before and the forward have no issue making the step up.

The 25-year-old would fit into what Bielsa is trying to achieve.

Regarding Cheltenham, the ball is in their court to command a free representing the quality and potential of the forward; they are in a position to obtain a hefty transfer fee for the forward should he move on.
