Leeds United have emerged as favourites to seal a sensational return to the club for striker Ross McCormack, according to the Daily Express, via odds from Sky Bet.

The Scottish international has been in fine form this season during a loan spell over in Australia with Melbourne City, however, he is open to a return to England, and it has now emerged that his former club Leeds are at the head of the pack in the race to sign him.

McCormack has been a failure at Aston Villa ever since sealing a big money move from Fulham 18 months ago, and was soon shown the door when Steve Bruce took over the club midway through last season.

However, his form for Melbourne has thrust the striker back into the limelight, and he could well return to the Championship and try to fire Leeds United back into playoff contention after a miserable run of form has seen them drift away from top six contention.

McCormack's return would be somewhat of a big surprise for the Whites fans, but if McCormack can return to his best form, then he will be a massive asset for Thomas Christiansen's men during the run in.

Leeds fans, what do you make of this news? Surprise? Or should it be taken with a pinch of salt? Let us know in the comments!
