Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Benfica left back Alexis Scholl, according to the Tuesday edition of Portuguese newspaper A Bola via Sports Witness.

Leeds are looking for a replacement for outbound Charlie Taylor - whose departure to the Premier League looks increasingly inevitable after he rejected a new deal and handed in a transfer request.

It looks like Scholl might be the man to come in and fill that void.

The 20-year-old is a Belgian under-19 international who operates as a left-sided full back for Benfica B. He has played 3 times for the Portuguese side and was loaned out to Gent last year.

After only managing 68 minutes in total for the Belgian side, they chose not to exercise their option-to-buy clause.

Reports in Portugal are suggesting that a deal is very close, although they fail to specify the conditions of the agreement with the player and between Leeds and Benfica.

Scholl would become Monk's eight summer signing as part of his summer overhaul at Elland Road.

Leeds fans - what do you think? Would Scholl be a good signing? Do you need to get someone more experienced?
