Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has revealed that he misses football in an Instagram post in which he shared various images of himself playing this season.
With Marcelo Bielsa’s side sitting top of the Championship at present, a nervous and anxious wait sits on the shoulders of club personnel and fans of the Yorkshire club.
Having narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last term, losing to Derby County in the play-off semi-final, Leeds have bounced back in superb fashion and sit above West Bromwich Albion in the automatic promotion places.
Ayling, who has arguably been Leeds’ best player this season, has grabbed many of the headlines, producing weekly consistent form.
Plans for football to return are still unknown due to the recent pandemic, but players are now starting to reveal how much they miss playing.
Via his official Instagram account, Ayling posted images of he and his teammates, and a comment on how much he missed football.

His post gained replies of some fellow professionals, including former Leeds striker Eddie Nketiah, who is now back with parent club Arsenal.
Ayling is not the only one missing the game. But precautions do need to take place before it can return. That being said, you can understand to a certain extent how Leeds fans must be feeling, having missed out narrowly last season and sitting on the verge of going up via the automatic route.
Patience is key in these tricky times, but Ayling’s message is another bit of proof of how dedicated and passionate he is to the cause at Elland Road.
