Young Leeds United defender Leif Davis has heaped praise on the club's Under 23 manager Carlos Corberan, report the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Davis, who only made his first-team debut against Aston Villa just before Christmas, saying he ensures the same lessons Marcelo Bielsa teaches his senior squad are passed down.

"When we have him with the Under-23s he knows the ins and outs of what's been going on with the first-team," Davis said of Corberan's approach.

"The staff we have at both levels are fantastic. Carlos drags what the senior lads have been working on down to the development group and it only benefits us.

"I think it's a big reason why we're doing so well."

Davis was brought into the Whites youth team from League Two Morecambe back in the summer and was called up to the first-team squad after impressing for the reserves.

Since the clash with Villa, the defender has gone on to make three more appearances, all from the bench, as he looks to help the club back into the Premier League.

Leeds currently sit in third place with 32 matches played this season heading into this weekend's clash with Bolton Wanderers, but only behind second-placed Sheffield United on goal difference and two points away from league-leaders Norwich City.

The verdict

This will ease a lot of nerves around Elland Road.

There have been fears recently that Bielsa could leave the club if they are not promoted and possibly if they are as well, but knowing they have coaches at the club who can carry on his legacy will be a relief.
