The Football Association have confirmed Leeds United’s Liam Cooper will serve a six-game suspension for stamping during the Whites’ clash with Reading last weekend.

Cooper made contact with the head of Reece Oxford during the second-half, which was unseen and unpunished by referee Keith Stroud at the time.

Following a review of the game, the FA charged Cooper with violent conduct, and after pleading guilty, the defender will now serve a six-game suspension.

The 25-year old will next be available to Garry Monk for the last game of the regular season against Wigan Athletic, handing Leeds a serious blow in their quest for the Play-Offs.

Monk’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats to Reading and Brentford in the past week and are now fifth in the Sky Bet Championship table, just five-points clear of seventh-placed Fulham.

Despite the disappointment of Cooper’s suspension, Leeds have been boosted by the return to fitness of Pontus Jansson, who featured for 90 minutes against Brentford last night.

The Swedish international is also facing a potential ban before the end of the season, needing just two yellow cards to trigger a three-match suspension.
