Leeds United have been dealt a significant transfer blow in their search for a new striker.

The Whites have been hunting for a new frontman since Arsenal made the decision to recall Eddie Nketiah at the start of the month, leaving Patrick Bamford as the only fit striker in the ranks.

Football Insider reported that the Championship side were keen to finalise a move for Yohan Boli who was said to be keen on a move to Elland Road.

However any hope of securing a deal is now over with the 26-year-old agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal with Al Rayyan Sports Club.

West Brom and Brentford were also said to be keen, but Leeds will now have to focus their efforts elsewhere.

The Athletic's Phil Hay has insisted that Che Adams remains the number one target for Marcelo Bielsa's side, with the Southampton man said to be keen to move to Elland Road.

But whether a move can be agreed remains to be seen as the search for a new striker intensifies.

The verdict

While news of Yohan Boli's move is a blow, it's not the end of the world for Leeds United.

The 26-year-old was never the top target for Marcelo Bielsa's side which means that his move will not be seen as anything more than a minor obstacle.

The focus for Leeds will now be on getting a deal done in the remaining two weeks or so of the transfer window.
