It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Ben White’s future will be at Leeds United, with Brighton and Hove Albion keen to offer the centre-back an opportunity with their first-team in 2020/21.

Leeds have nurtured the talent of White over the course of the last 12 months, giving him a first taste of Championship football on the back of loans with Newport and Peterborough.

And, he’s impressed under Marcelo Bielsa, featuring in every Championship minute and helping Leeds to the top of the table.

Over recent weeks, Liverpool, Man City and Man United have all been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, whilst Leeds will look to keep him if their table-topping position results in Premier League football.

However, The Athletic note how Brighton have big plans for White, detailing how the only destination for him is in Graham Potter’s defence.

Potter likes the look of White, who has shown to be comfortable in a back-four or a back-three, with the latter system allowing him to play to his strengths with the ball at his feet.

Additionally at Leeds, White has been forced to step into the holding midfield role, where he has impressed and received further praise.

The Verdict

Leeds would love Ben White back next season, but it is looking less and less likely as the weeks tick by.

Brighton clearly want to build a side around the 22-year-old and given he’s their player, they hold all the cards at the moment.

And, even then, if they were tempted to sell, there’s a few big fish interested in White, who could well blow Leeds out of the water.
