Reports in the Italian media are suggesting that Giuseppe Bellusci could still complete a permanent switch away from Leeds United this summer despite recent reports suggesting otherwise.

Giuseppe Bellusci has been on a season long loan at Empoli and the Italian outfit were very keen to sign him on a permanent deal.

However, this move was thrown into major doubt after Empoli suffered a disappointing relegation to Serie B.

It was believed that Empoli could struggle to cough up the required funds to end Giuseppe Bellusci's Leeds nightmare and sign him permanently.

However, according to a recent report by Italian media outlet Panorama reported via Sport Witness, Empoli could still secure the permanent signing of the hot-headed Italian.

The former Italy under-21 international joined Leeds from Catania in 2014 but the fans were never impressed with him amid an influx of Italian players brought in by controversial owner Massimo Cellino.

Leeds United are ready to dispense with the 27-year-old so they will be hoping that Empoli can match their €2m asking price and complete the signing of Bellusci permanently.

Bologna are also thought to be interested in signing the centre half this summer so he has options back in his homeland.

Leeds United will look to reinvest those funds in strengthening their own defence after influential centre back Kyle Bartley returned to Swansea after his loan spell.
