Bristol City could look to snatch Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah from Leeds United in the January transfer window, a report from The Sun has claimed.

Nketiah joined Leeds from Arsenal on a season-long loan late in the summer transfer window, after failing to turn up for talks with Bristol City about a proposed move to Ashton Gate.

Despite that, it seems the Robins are set to have another go at bringing Nketiah to the South-West, as they look to take advantage of Nketiah's frustrating start to the season with Leeds.

The 20-year-old has yet to start a league game for Leeds this season, and Bristol City are said to be ready to offer Nketiah that chance of first-team experience in the second half of the season, with Arsenal holding the option to recall Nketiah in January.

Bristol City are in need of some fresh striking options, after summer loan signing Benik Afobe suffered a season-ending ACL injury in late August.

So far this season, Nketiah has scored four goals in eight appearances in all competitions for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Both Bristol City and Leeds look set to compete for promotion, with Lee Johnson's side currently sixth in the Championship standings, level on points with fifth-placed Leeds, who are ahead of their rivals here on goal difference alone.

The Verdict

I think this is something worth considering for Arsenal.

Nketiah hasn't really been getting the game time he or the club would have been hoping for at Leeds this season, something which is likely to have held back his anticipated development.

With Bristol City currently short on attacking options following that injury to Afobe, you imagine that that would not be the same situation were he to move to Ashton Gate.

It will be interesting to see if this prompts a response from Leeds, given the lack of options upfront the departure of Nketiah would leave them with.
