Jack Clarke will again be absent from Leeds United’s squad this weekend, with the winger recovering from a virus that left him in hospital earlier this month.

Leeds have been without Clarke since their 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough in early February, with the 18-year-old – who had been substituted at half-time - taken to hospital after complaining of feeling unwell during the second-half.

Although the winger is now on the road to recovery after tests on him came back all clear, Marcelo Bielsa will not have him available for tomorrow’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.

BBC Leeds’ Adam Pope revealed the news on Twitter, with Leeds also expected to name an unchanged starting XI tomorrow, despite defeat to Queens Park Rangers last time out.

That means that Ezgjan Alioski retains his place at left-back, with Tyler Roberts once again featuring in the No.10 role. Pablo Hernandez will play wide on the right, with Patrick Bamford starting his fifth consecutive fixture in attack.

In addition to that, Bielsa has revealed that the bench will contain the same personnel that featured against QPR, with Gaetano Berardi set to be looking for his first involvement since October.

The Verdict

There should be no rush with Clarke whatsoever - he’s a young players who has had an unfortunate setback with the illness.

Leeds are missing him and his ability to turn a game, but Bielsa will know that he can’t rush back such a young player, whatever the stakes.

The Whites are just going to have to find a way of winning without him.
