According to HITC Sport, Leeds United have entered the race to sign Jackson Irvine from Burton Albion.

Irvine is attracting interest from across the Sky Bet Championship, with Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves all interested in signing the Australian international.

However, Leeds are now considering a swoop for the Burton man, with Thomas Christiansen keen to add the midfielder to his squad ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Leeds believe that Irvine will add goals from midfield and help the Elland Road club once again fight for promotion in the Championship.

Irvine has only been with Burton for 12-months, having arrived at the Pirelli Stadium ahead of the 2016/17 season from Ross County.

The 24-year-old scored ten goals in the Championship, playing a crucial role for Nigel Clough’s side, who defied the odds and survived their first season in the second-tier.

Irvine has two-years remaining on his contract at the Pirelli Stadium, but reports suggest that the midfielder’s release clause is less than £1.5m, which has alerted a number of Burton’s Championship rivals.

The exciting midfielder also has 13 caps for Australia and has scored one goal or his country.
