Tyler Denton has completed a permanent move away from Leeds United, with the full-back joining League Two Stevenage for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has come through the ranks at Elland Road but he failed to force his way into the first-team and he leaves without having made a senior league appearances, although he has featured in cup competitions over the years.

Denton had to move away to get regular football and he has spent the last two seasons with Port Vale and Peterborough.

Therefore, another move away this summer always seemed likely and the Whites confirmed on their official site this morning that the left-back has joined Stevenage after the two clubs had come to an agreement over a fee.

With the likes of Barry Douglas, Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and even young pair Tom Pearce and Leif Davis available to Marcelo Bielsa, it was always going to be a tough ask for the player to break into the first-team in Yorkshire.

He will join up with Dino Maamria's side now ahead of the new season as they look to push forward after missing out on the play-offs by just a single point in the previous campaign.

The Verdict

This seems like a very sensible move from all parties and it will give Denton a chance to play regularly and to improve his game.

He quite clearly has a lot of talent but he hasn't played as much football as he would've wanted by this stage of his career but he will hope to be a key man for Stevenage now.

As mentioned, he wasn't going to get a chance at Elland Road so even though it may have been tough to leave Leeds after all these years, it is the right decision.

As for the Championship side, they should take encouragement that yet another academy graduate is going to be featuring in the EFL.
