Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United have completed the signing of Carlisle United winger Liam McCarron, the club have now confirmed.

The Whites have been busy in the market of late, re-signing Jack Harrison on loan from Manchester City as well as capturing Ben White on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.

And the Yorkshire club have now announced their third signing of the day, with highly-rated Carlisle winger Liam McCarron arriving at Elland Road from Brunton Park for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old impressed for the Cumbrians last season, making 20 appearances in all competitions and catching the eye of plenty of high-profile clubs.

Sheffield United, Derby County and Wolves were all credited with an interest in the wide-man, but Leeds have now won the race for the youngster, penning a three-year deal at Elland Road.

McCarron will now join up with Carlos Corberan's under-23 side, who were crowned champions of the Premier League Professional Development League North last season, and also nurtured the likes of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton last term.

The Verdict

McCarron could prove to be a very shrewd signing for the Whites, and he is definitely one for the future.

He really impressed me for Carlisle last season - similarly to Jack Clarke, he loves to get the ball down and take it past defenders with no fear.

Corberan has worked wonders with the under-23 side over the last year or so, and there is no reason to suggest why he can't follow in the footsteps with Clarke, Shacketon, Aapo Halme and many more promising youngsters.
