Leeds United have had some goalkeeping issues so far this season and with the transfer window nearing its conclusion, they have turned to Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, according to reports in Argentina's AS.

Martinez is close to joining Leeds and Thomas Christiansen is confident that the deal to bring the goalkeeper to Elland Road will be done before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow.

The Argentine goalkeeper is on loan at Spanish side Getafe and but has only made four appearances in all competitions and wants to leave the club.

In recent days there has been much talk surrounding the future of the 25-year-old goalkeeper including an approach from Premier League club Crystal Palace, but the offer did not suit Getafe.

The Verdict

Martinez would fancy his chances of challenging for the number one spot at Elland Road and there is definitely a need for a goalkeeper who radiates confidence through the side.

He is also going to be keen for gametime and to prove himself in England, which could see him be a real asset to Leeds.
