Leeds United are closing in on the signing of FC Twente’s Mateusz Klich, with a deal expected to go through within the next 24 hours, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

It is understood that Leeds have agreed a £1.5m deal with the Dutch outfit for Klich’s signature, and the midfielder is currently having a medical in West Yorkshire, having already agreed personal terms with the Whites.

The 27-year old played a major role for FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie last season, making 29 appearances and helping his side to a seventh-placed finish.

Klich also scored six goals last season for Twente, adding a further four assists in the Dutch top-flight.

The creative midfielder has ten caps for Poland, and featured against England at Wembley in a World Cup qualifier in 2013.

Klich is set to become the first signing at Elland Road since Thomas Christiansen was appointed as the club’s head-coach last week, and will link up with the rest of his teammates when they return to pre-season at the start of next week.

Leeds have already signed Hadi Sacko, who spent last season on-loan at Elland Road, on a permanent contract, whilst Pontus Jansson is set to sign a three-year contract early next month.

18-year old midfielder, Ronaldo Vieira, has also committed his long-term future to the Elland Road club, in what has been a productive summer for the Whites so far.
