Leeds United are looking to sign Angus Gunn on a season-long loan from Manchester City this summer.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Gunn has emerged as a target for the Whites, who are looking to resolve the goalkeeping problem that has haunted them over the last 12 months.

Gunn is one of Leeds’ top summer targets, with Man City planning to send the 22-year-old goalkeeper out on-loan again during the 2018/19 campaign.

The 22-year-old is yet to feature for City’s first-team, but spent the 2017/18 campaign on-loan with Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship, where he got his first taste of senior football.

Gunn was ever-present for the Canaries in the Championship, managing to make 51 appearances across all competitions under Daniel Farke.

Leeds’ goalkeeping options are far from convincing, with Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan struggling to hold down a starting berth.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell finished the season as Leeds’ No.1, featuring in the final 11 fixtures of the Championship season.

The Whites plan to bring Gunn in to compete for a starting berth alongside Peacock-Farrell.

The Verdict

Gunn’s performances in the Championship last season were extremely good, with the goalkeeper impressing for Norwich, despite their struggles.

At 22, Gunn might not have the experience, but he has all the potential to be an excellent goalkeeper.

Going into next season with Gunn and Peacock-Farrell competing for a starting berth will give Leeds two goalkeepers with real quality.
