Leeds United have been given a huge boost as it has been reported that there is no chance Brighton will look to recall on-loan defender Ben White in January.

The 22-year-old has been phenomenal for the Whites this season, starting every Championship game and helping the side to concede the fewest goals and keep the most clean sheets in the division.

It seemed a risky move to trust White, who was relatively untested, to replace departed centre-back Pontus Jansson but so far it has looked a masterstroke.

Such have been the quality of his performances that the defender earned the PFA Fans' Championship Player of the Month award in August–his first month in the division.

There had been concerns that he may be recalled in January due to the quality of his performances, however, it appears Leeds fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, sources have revealed that Brighton are delighted with White's progress at Elland Road.

A source told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "There is no chance at all of a recall, which is good news for Leeds fans."

White has been integral to the strong start to the season made by Marcelo Bielsa's side, who are currently third in the table–only two points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

The Verdict

This is huge news for Leeds and a massive boost to their promotion hopes.

I will hold my hands up and say that I thought they were making a mistake by not bringing in a more experienced replacement for Jansson but so far White has been, for me, the best defender in the division.

Defensively he is extremely solid but it is his quality in possession that stands him apart–averaging the second-most passes per game in the Whites squad with the third-highest success rate, according to Whoscored.
