Leeds United's forgotten man Caleb Ekuban is on the verge of sealing his loan exit from the club, according to reports emerging from Albania.

According to Albanian media outlet Panorama, Ekuban is set to move to Flamurtari Vlore on loan.

Flamurtari Vlore play in the Albanian Superliga - the top tier of football in the country - and they finished in sixth position last season but are hoping to bolster their title credentials with the marquee capture of Ekuban.

The 24-year-old joined Leeds last summer in a permanent switch from Chievo Verona but failed to make the desired impact at Elland Road.

In 20 league games, the Italian striker scored just one goal, as well as netting another goal in the cup, and he does not feature in Marcelo Bielsa's plans.

Ekuban will be returning to Albania, where he scored 17 goals in 34 games for Partizani Tirana during a loan spell in the 2016/17 season before moving to Leeds.

The Verdict

This move makes sense for all parties involved.

Ekuban is clearly not good enough to play for Leeds and he needs to move away for the sake of his own career, while Leeds will be happy to shift him off their books and trim their squad.

But in Albania, he is prolific and Flamurtari Vlore will benefit from having him up front.
