Leeds United and Sunderland interested in influential attacking midfielder

Championship side Leeds United will rival Premier League side Sunderland for on-loan Ipswich Town star Tom Lawrence, according to journalist Joe Rawson.

Lawrence’s parent club, Leicester City, are supposedly ready to recall him in order to make a permanent deal happen.

Leeds and Sunderland are both battling to bring him in, as Ipswich fail to compete financially for his signature.

This could be detrimental to Ipswich, who have relied heavily on Lawrence to carry them up the table, particularly in recent weeks.

He’s scored six goals this season, including some absolute stunners, and is able to operate out wide or through the middle, whether up front or in a number 10 role.

Surprisingly, Leeds are reported to have the edge on Sunderland in the race for the Welshman, as David Moyes has little to no money to work with.

Garry Monk is already bringing in Villareal winger Alfonso Pedraza today, and could make it a second deal with Lawrence’s signing.
