According to a report by Football Insider, Leeds United are rivalling Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers to sign Marcus Maddison.

Peterborough United have transfer listed the attacking midfielder to allow him to compete at a higher level after they failed to reach the play-offs last season.

That was despite the 24-year-old racking up a very impressive tally of 10 goals and 21 assists last term.

Leeds have tracked Maddison for a few years now and Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly given the club the go-ahead to complete this deal.

But they face competition from newly promoted Blackburn and heavy spending Nottingham Forest for this signing.

The Reds have already signed Joao Carvalho, Gil Dias and Diogo Goncalves but Aitor Karanka is eyeing another attacking midfielder.

Maddison has been one of the best performing players in League One for the past few seasons and is expected to depart this summer.

The Verdict

This would be an excellent signing for any of these three clubs, given that he has consistently hit impressive figures in both goals and assists for a few seasons now.

At 24, he is still young and will get better but he is such a dangerous threat with his impressive left foot and his versatility.

This seems a no-brainer and I am surprised he hasn't been snapped up earlier.
