Leeds United and Fulham are among a host of clubs who are keen on West Brom's Rekeem Harper in the January window.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a real breakthrough season in the previous campaign, establishing himself as one of the most talented youngsters in the league.

However, despite signing a new long-term contract in he summer, Harper has been unable to kick-on this season, featuring just once for Slaven Bilic in the league - on the opening day of the season. He hasn't made the squad for a league game since August either.

Therefore, a January move could be on the cards, with The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 65, January 19, 2020) claiming that Leeds, Fulham, Charlton and QPR are weighing up moves for the player.

Even though he has barely featured this season, it would seem highly unlikely that Albion would do a deal with either the Whites or the Cottagers, as the duo are direct rivals in the race for automatic promotion.

The three sides occupy the top three positions in the Championship and are separated by just five points.

The verdict

In terms of Harper's development, there's no doubt that a move would be beneficial for him right now. For whatever reason, he is way down the pecking order at The Hawthorns but has the potential to play elsewhere.

But, there's no way that Albion would sanction a move to Leeds or Fulham and you can't imagine they would want to lose Harper on a permanent basis either.

A loan to QPR and Charlton could work out and it will be interesting to see how this plays out before the deadline.
