Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood is attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with Leeds United, Celtic and Southampton all keen on a move for the Irish international.

The summer transfer window is fast approaching, with the Sun reporting that Westwood is on the radar of a number of clubs, as he enters the final year of his contract at Hillsborough.

The 33-year-old joined the Owls in the summer of 2014, and has made almost 150 appearances for the club since then, helping them to back-to-back play-off appearances in 2016 and 2017.

This season, the goalkeeper’s year has been plagued by a groin injury, which has ended his season early.

Despite that, Southampton are interested in a summer swoop for the goalkeeper, with Mark Hughes looking to offload Fraser Forster.

The relegation-threatened Premier League club do face competition in the race to sign Westwood, with Leeds and Celtic also interested.

Leeds are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to replace Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan, who have lost their place in the side to 21-year-old academy goalkeeper, Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Verdict

Westwood has been amongst the most consistent goalkeepers in the Championship over recent seasons, really impressing in goal for Sheffield Wednesday.

Interest from elsewhere isn’t really a surprise and with Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson emerging at Hillsborough, the Owls might be tempted to move Westwood on in the summer.

At 33, Westwood is experienced and would certainly be a player that would improve a number of other clubs.
