Leeds United are rivalling Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers in the race to sign Cameron Jerome on loan from Derby County.

According to Football Insider, Jerome is on Leeds’ radar, with the striker available for loan after finding himself down the pecking order under Frank Lampard.

Marcelo Bielsa is looking to bolster his attacking options at this late stage of the transfer window, but Leeds do face competition from across the Championship in the race to sign Jerome, as well as clubs in Turkey.

Jerome has only been with Derby since January, after the Rams moved to sign the striker to boost their promotion chance under Gary Rowett.

The 32-year-old scored six goals in 20 appearances for Derby last season, including five goals in his last five appearances of the campaign.

Jerome’s form led Derby to sixth in the table, with the Rams qualifying for the play-offs.

The striker netted in the first-leg of the play-off semi-final against Fulham, but the Cottagers proved too strong for Derby over the course of 180 minutes of football.

So far this season, Jerome is yet to play a minute of football, with Lampard having a host of strikers ahead of the ex-Norwich City forward.

The Verdict

Jerome might be coming towards the end of his career, but you can’t doubt his quality.

Over the years, he’s been involved in a number of squads chasing promotion, and even last year, he showed his worth to Derby.

Bielsa does have some good attacking options, but Jerome would bring something completely different to Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe.
