Speaking to Leeds United’s official website, Pablo Hernandez has been discussing how 2017 could be the perfect year for his family, who have already started winning major honours in some of sport’s biggest competitions.

Hernandez’s brother-in-law, Sergio Garcia, won golf’s most prestigious tournament, The Masters, on Sunday evening, something the Leeds forward is hoping is the start of a magnificent sporting year for his family, he said:

“For my family it is a great moment and one for us all to enjoy with Sergio and I hope now we can enjoy the next weeks with Leeds United.

“The fans should know Sergio follows a lot of Leeds United and now we just need the club to reach the Premier League and it will be a perfect year for us.

“Maybe we will see him at Elland Road, I hope this will happen, he told me a while ago if he had a chance he will come and watch a game, so it is possible.”

The 32-year old is aiming for promotion with Leeds this season, and the Whites are currently sat fifth in the Sky Bet Championship table, with just five-fixtures of the season remaining.

Garry Monk’s side returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon by recording a 3-0 victory over Preston North End, putting their challenge for promotion back on track.

Hernandez played a vital part in that victory, scoring Leeds’ second goal shortly before half-time, giving Monk’s side a comfortable lead.

The Whites are back in action on Friday evening, when they travel to St James’ Park for a clash with title-chasing Newcastle United, where Monk will be hopeful his side can strengthen their hold on a Play-Off spot by picking up a positive result.
