Leeds United’s latest signing Pontus Jansson has been speaking to LUTV, ahead of Sunday’s clash with Huddersfield Town.

Jansson put pen to paper on a new deal with Leeds last night, signing a permanent contract with the Whites until 2020.

The Swedish international has been impressive during his loan spell at Elland Road, helping Leeds reach fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Jansson said: “We have to take it game by game, we have Huddersfield in a really tough game on Sunday. We lost against them in the first game and now we want revenge.”

The defeat to Huddersfield back in September inspired Leeds on a fantastic run of form, which has seen them rise into promotion contenders.

Jansson scored an 89th-minute winner on Tuesday evening as Leeds defeated Blackburn Rovers, the victory moved the Whites within five-points of the automatic promotion places.

The 25-year old and his centre-back partner Kyle Bartley, who have helped Leeds to 11 clean sheets this season, have been key to Leeds’ league form this term.

Speaking about his new three-year deal, Jansson said: “I’ve worked really hard for this, even during the tough months in Italy.

“I’m really happy to be here right now. My goal is to take Leeds back to the Premier League, we are not close but we are on the right way.

“If we go there it will be the biggest memory of my life.”

Leeds head to Huddersfield for Sunday’s West Yorkshire derby in good form, following back-to-back league victories over Blackburn and Nottingham Forest.

Huddersfield are also full of confidence, which was shown as they defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 3-1 on Thursday evening.
