Ronaldo Vieira has highlighted the togetherness of Leeds United’s playing squad, with the midfielder revealing that the Whites are determined to improve after last season’s disappointing campaign.

Leeds finished a disappointing 13th in the Championship last season, with neither Thomas Christiansen nor Paul Heckingbottom able to launch a real assault on the play-offs.

Marcelo Bielsa has been appointed at Elland Road ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, as Leeds look to win promotion and end their long absence from the Premier League.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Vieira, 19, has issued a passionate message ahead of the new season, highlighting just how together Bielsa’s playing squad is:

“I can really feel it, the togetherness within the team and I think all the boys know where we are heading and obviously we knew that what we did last year wasn’t good enough and this year everyone is trying to improve themselves, together and as individuals as well.”

Leeds’ last top-flight appearances came in 2004, with the Whites now embarking on their 15th campaign outside the Premier League.

Bielsa and his squad are now well underway in pre-season, with Leeds working towards the first game of the Championship season against Stoke City at Elland Road on August 5th.

So far this summer, Bielsa has secured just one signing, with Lewis Baker arriving at Elland Road on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The Verdict

Vieira is clearly very determined to put things right at Elland Road in the coming year, and if his Leeds teammates feel the same, the Whites could be in for an exciting year.

Of course, at this stage of the summer, Bielsa’s squad still needs a lot of work, but the attitude amongst Leeds’ players is clearly good at this stage, which could be vital when the season starts next month.
