Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Pontus Jansson has stated that Leeds United can beat anyone they face at Elland Road, ahead of this weekend’s clash with Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Jansson was Leeds’ hero in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Norwich City, with the defender heading in Pawel Cibicki’s first-half free-kick, before producing a mammoth display in defence to help Thomas Christiansen’s side to a crucial three points.

Saturday’s three points moved Leeds back into serious top-six contention heading into the Christmas period, with Christiansen’s side knowing three points against Hull on Saturday will guarantee a top-six return, with Aston Villa or Sheffield United set to drop points when they face off at Villa Park.

Jansson has given his early thoughts on Saturday’s contest, admitting it will be a tough contest for Leeds, but one they should be winning at Elland Road, before playing down the fact that victory will move Leeds back into the top-six.

The 26-year-old said: “Hull’s a tough game but we should win it because at home we are strong and we know we can beat anyone. Focus on that one and if we take three points we are going to be in the play-offs. But that’s not so important right now.”

Leeds have picked up 13 points from their last six Championship fixtures, with Christiansen’s side putting a miserable September and October behind them to move back into top-six contention heading into 2018.

The Verdict

Jansson’s message is clear, Leeds should be aiming to win all their fixtures at Elland Road, which is what all teams battling for promotion will be aiming to do between now and the end of the season.

Leeds have struggled at Elland Road at times this year, but their form over the last month will give supporters encouragement that things have changed and they will be confident of three points against Hull on Saturday.

A chance to move back into the top-six should be all the incentive Leeds need for Saturday.
