Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts has heaped praise on teammate Pablo Hernandez for his contribution to the team this season.

Hernandez scored twice at the weekend as Marcelo Bielsa's side came from behind to beat Millwall 3-2 and move back above rivals Sheffield United into the Championship's automatic promotion places.

The Spanish winger has enjoyed a brilliant season for the Whites so far and has played a big role in the team's push for automatic promotion.

Roberts and Hernandez combined for the winning goal at Elland Road on Saturday and the Welshman was full of praise for his teammate.

“He’s a massive and great player to have on your team," said Roberts, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"All the boys enjoy him on the pitch because he’ll find you and score goals and get assists, so I can’t praise him enough. I’m grateful to be able to learn from him.

“He’s not the loudest person in the changing room but he leads by his performances and what he does on the pitch. He’s a great player to learn from."

Hernandez has scored twelve goals and contributed eleven assists in 33 Championship appearances this season and has already improved on his impressive stats from 2017/18 campaign.

"He’s been amazing again this season, last season he showed his quality and he’s had a great career, and still doing it. It’s great to have him in our team,” Roberts added.

Roberts has also been an important player for Leeds this season and has three goals in 22 Championship appearances this term.

The result on Saturday has seen the Whites move back above Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United into the Championship's automatic promotion places.

Leeds are currently two points ahead of the Blades and five points behind leaders Norwich City, with seven games to go.

Bielsa's side face struggling Birmingham City at St Andrew's next weekend and will be looking to continue their momentum.

The Verdict:

Roberts is right. Hernandez has been brilliant for Leeds this season and was very unlucky to not be included in the EFL's Championship Team of the Season.

Leeds fans will be hoping that the Spaniard can continue his impressive form as the Whites push for a return to the Premier League.

If he can keep on producing the kind of performances like his one on Saturday, they have a very good chance of finishing in the top two.
