Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe has agreed personal terms with Belgian side Anderlecht with a move expected to be completed on Monday, according to reports from Football Insider.

The Whites face Bristol City on Sunday afternoon with Marcelo Bielsa's side looking to kick off their Championship campaign in the best possible way - but they look like doing so without last season's top goalscorer.

Roofe netted 15 times in all competitions for the Whites last term, in a season that was hampered by injuries, and he was a hugely important player for Bielsa's side up top.

But with a new contract still yet to be placed on the table for Roofe, whose deal expires at the end of the season, Anderlecht now look set to win the race for the prolific forward for around £5m.

And now, Football Insider claim that Roofe has agreed personal terms ahead of a proposed move to Vincent Kompany's side, with the 26-year-old set to undergo a medical on Monday and sign a three-year deal.

Leeds have already lost one key player in Pontus Jansson this summer, and with Roofe set to leave, Bielsa will look to reinforce his striking options in the final week of the transfer window, with Patrick Bamford and Ryan Edmondson their only options up top.

The Verdict

I am still very shocked that this transfer is about to happen, and it's undoubtedly a massive blow for Leeds.

Roofe was excellent under Bielsa last season, scoring loads of goals despite being injured on more than one occasion - he would have scored 20+ for sure otherwise.

To lose Jansson is one thing, but to lose your star striker for what isn't really a big fee is a massive blow for Leeds. They will struggle to replace him.
