Pontus Jansson has called on Leeds United’s supporters to get behind Thomas Christiansen’s side against Middlesbrough tomorrow, stressing that the support of the Elland Road crowd will make their job easier, reports the club’s official Twitter account.

Leeds welcome Boro to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon for an eagerly anticipated clash in the Sky Bet Championship, as Garry Monk returns to Leeds for the first time since leaving over the summer and opting for a move to the Riverside Stadium.

The Championship rivals enter tomorrow’s contest in contrasting form, with Leeds struggling to find the consistency they showed at the start of the campaign, sliding down to 10th having suffered seven defeats in their last nine league fixtures.

Whilst Leeds have been on a gradual slide, Middlesbrough have picked up three straight victories to catapult themselves into the Championship’s top-six, where they will be looking to stay.

Jansson, 26, has witnessed Leeds’ slide, and has now called on the club’s supporters to pull together with Christiansen’s side, to help turn things around in the Championship, his message read: “The fans being behind us makes games easier, they are with us and against the other team, and that is what we need now.

“I know they are frustrated, so are we, but now we must come together, the payers and the fans.

“My biggest wish is that the fans stay with us no matter what.”

Leeds have been boosted by the return of Caleb Ekuban ahead of tomorrow’s clash, with the striker in contention along with Stuart Dallas, who despite returning from international duty with a problem, should be fit enough to feature.

The Verdict

Leeds are in desperate need of a victory tomorrow in the Championship, but it will not be easy against an in-form Middlesbrough, who have a number of quality players at their disposal.

Jansson’s message is clear, and if Leeds are to get a positive result against Boro, they will need the full support of the stadium, which is a given.

Tomorrow’s clash should be a cracker, with a lot at stake, particularly for Leeds.
