Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts has sent a message to Manchester United winger Daniel James, after he scored his first goal for the club on his debut against Chelsea yesterday.

James joined Manchester United from Swansea City for £15million during the summer transfer window, after an outstanding season for club and country.

The 21-year-old made his debut for Manchester United yesterday and scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford, scoring just a few minutes after coming off the bench.

Leeds forward and James' Wales teammate Roberts has sent the player a message on his personal Instagram story, congratulating him on his debut goal.

James came close to joining Leeds earlier this year and was at Elland Road for a medical on transfer deadline in January, before the deal fell through at the last moment.

Roberts was an important player for Leeds in the Championship last season and scored three goals in 28 league appearances for the Whites.

The Verdict

James is a very talented footballer and he could have a very big future ahead of him at Manchester United.

I was a little bit sceptical about him moving to Old Trafford this summer and I wasn't expecting him get many opportunities in the first team, so I was really pleased to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer give him a chance in such a big game against Chelsea.

I was really pleased to see him make an impact on his debut with a goal and I'm sure Roberts would have been delighted for his international teammate too.
