Leeds United fans will be desperate to see their club sign some proven players in the Championship in the summer window but whether they actually do is a completely different proposition.
Certainly, you’d think after the season they’ve had they’d look to bring in players that know the league better than the ones that are at the club right now but that might not end up being the case.
You can almost hear the eyes rolling, then, when we take a look at LUFC DATA’s latest tweet:
Update on Leeds target Jerry Mbakogu: The 25-year-old forward is now an Italian citizen and will not need a work permit to complete a move to England.
— LUFCDATA (@LUFCDATA) April 27, 2018
Unsurprisingly, Mbakogu is an unproven forward with little pedigree at the top level in any of the big European leagues.
Certainly, he represents another big gamble and with Leeds lacking a top striker, you almost have to feel for the Whites fans who are being put through this once again.
Of course, perhaps we’re jumping the gun a little bit but this story does have all the hallmarks of a Leeds transfer muck-up.
The player would have to settle quickly to prove the doubters wrong and, with that sort of pressure, there’s every chance he could wilt.
Let’s see what happens.
