Victor Orta is currently working on a list of Leeds United transfer targets that have been approved by Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds watched their season come to an end on Wednesday evening at the hands of Derby County, with the Rams running out 4-3 aggregate winners in the play-off semi-finals.

That has left the future of Bielsa up in the air, but it seems that Leeds are confident that the 63-year-old will oversee a second year at Elland Road after guiding the Whites to third.

A report in the Mirror states that Orta – Leeds’ director of football – is already working on a list of transfer targets that have been approved by the meticulous Bielsa.

Although no confirmation has come regarding Bielsa’s future, the report states that the club are already looking to improve their training base at Thorp Arch in line with what the Argentine wants.

It goes on to say that the Whites are expecting Bielsa back in mid-June for pre-season after a spell in Argentina catching up with his family.

Last summer Bielsa only signed six players for Leeds, including four Premier League loanees. He then added goalkeeper Kiko Casilla in January, but lost Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker to injury and Reading respectively.

The Verdict

This could perhaps be the biggest indication that Bielsa is going to start next season with Leeds.

If he’s still assisting Orta in the transfer window, it screams that he will be staying for a second season.

Bielsa is a man with a precise demand and this is one of them – recruitment.
