Kevin Phillips has tipped Leeds United to loan Louie Sibley back to Derby County if the Whites end up signing the player between now and the transfer deadline this evening, as per a report from Football Insider.

The Whites have had an excellent time of things so far back in the Premier League with them settling quickly and showing what they can do and they'll be hoping that they can continue that against Wolves next up.

Before that, though, it's deadline day today for domestic moves and it remains to be seen if United are going to dip their toes into the market one more time.

The same outlet has reported that Leeds want Sibley from Derby in what would be an impressive signing given his talent but Phillips believes, if he did make the switch to Elland Road, he should be then sent back on loan to Pride Park.

The former striker said:

“Sibley will turn out to be a great player.

“He is a young kid with an exciting future.

“Does he go to Leeds and play every other game? I would rather him stay and play week in, week out.

“There could be a deal to be done where he is signed and then goes back to Derby on loan, I would not be averse to that. The kid just needs to play football.”

The Verdict

Time will tell here.

We're not far away from the transfer window shutting and so we'll soon see what Sibley's immediate future holds.

One thing is certain, though, and that is that he has got huge talent and could make it to the Premier League.

He just needs to make the best decisions now to aid his progression.
