As quoted by BBC Radio Leeds, Leeds stars Eunan O’Kane and Liam Cooper have labelled Gaetano Berardi as the hardest player that the club has.
The Whites have been flying along this season and look like serious contenders for promotion right now with their squad portraying all the qualities needed for that.
And, in an interesting interview with the Leeds pair, it was the full-back that came out as the toughest player of all in the squad – something that may surprise a few given his diminutive stature.
For sure, though, Berardi is a tenacious character and will always put his foot in – something that has not been lost on his team-mates even in training.
Indeed, O’Kane said:
“In training I want him on my team first, I won’t get kicked. He’s the same person [as in matches].
“He’s actually quite a nice guy off the pitch.”
Berardi, then, is the kind of person that won’t get bullied on the pitch as we’ve seen this season and it’s clearly something that comes to him naturally with this label.
Leeds fans, though, will be hoping he doesn’t injure anyone during the training at least.
Berardi is a real competitor and is evidently the man you want on your side when the going gets tough.
For sure, teams are going to try and rough Leeds up this season as they try to get them on an even standing and so the likes of Berardi will be needed to make sure that that doesn’t happen.
