Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has revealed the moment around which the Whites began their resurgence in the promotion race this season in the Sky Bet Championship.

The men from Elland Road are top of the league and will be looking for the season to resume as soon as possible so that they can seal a Premier League return.

Indeed, they've been on a formidable run of form recently but at the start of 2020 there were fears that another famous Leeds wobble was on the way.

Results were dipping as the sides below them gained ground and Klich has revealed it was the loss against Nottingham Forest before a good performance at Brentford that has proven the turning point.

He said, via Leeds Live:

“The Brentford game.

“After the Nottingham Forest game, we said 'that's enough' and from the Brentford game we need to play better and the Brentford game was perfect for us.

“We could have won and we should have won. After that we showed we are really strong and we can do it, but something's (coronavirus lockdown) in our way now.”

The Verdict

The Brentford performance was certainly heartening for Leeds fans and it was a game they really should have won.

Kiko Casilla's mistake meant that the match was only a draw, of course, but the Whites showed their extra level at Griffin Park and from there they have really sparked on once more.

Going off of Klich's comments, it's clear there's some real spine and character in this group of players and Whites fans will hope that means that this will be their year.
