Leeds sign Manchester United defender Scott Wootton

Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United have signed former England youth international Scott Wootton from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year old came through the youth system at Old Trafford and made four first-team appearances including an appearance in the UEFA Champions League in a three year period but did have loan spells with Tranmere Rovers, Nottingham Forest and two spells with Peterborough United.

Wootton becomes Leeds fourth signing this summer to make a switch to Elland Road along with Luke Murphy, Noel Hunt and Matt Smith.

Leeds boss Brian McDermott told the club’s website: “He’s a player who has played in the Champions League and someone we feel will develop with us, I want to say thanks to the owners for doing the deal and bringing another young player to help us go forward.”
