With Bailey Peacock-Farrell being courted by several clubs and Felix Wiedwald joining Frankfurt, Leeds will need to look at securing a new keeper for next season.

Marcelo Bielsa needs to look no further than Manchester City keeper Angus Gunn. The England Under 21 player is highly promising but highly unlikely to challenge for City’s starting eleven.

The 22-year old had a productive season on loan for Norwich last season. He played every single minute of both the league and FA Cup, only missing a second round League Cup game. From this, he produced 16 clean sheets, including one against Chelsea in the FA Cup. These performances were enough for him to be voted third by Norwich fans in the Player of the Season vote.

It is evident that, despite his youth, he is already a mature player. Following a call-up to the England squad in November, Gareth Southgate called him up to England’s pre-World Cup training camp in May. It displayed the level of belief in him from a manager who has watched him progress through the youth development squads.

While losing Peacock-Farrell would weigh on the hearts of Leeds fans who see him as one of their own, securing Gunn as first choice would be a step up in terms of footballing ability. He has greater experience and the trust in him from higher up suggests greater potential. With first-team opportunities at Manchester City so limited, he should be signed on a permanent contract if possible. It would be a mighty fine coup if he was.
