Leeds United are embarking on a new era under Thomas Christiansen following the surprise resignation of manager Garry Monk over the summer.

The 38-year-old led the Yorkshire outfit to seventh place in the Championship last season but was unable to agree a new long-term deal with new owner Andrea Radrizzani, and subsequently resigned from his post back in May.

That was met with disappointment from some Leeds fans, although their optimism was somewhat restored following the appointment of former APOEL boss Christiansen, who last season led the Cypriot side to the domestic league title.

And the 44-year-old has overseen quite the overhaul at Elland Road thus far, with several incomings intertwined with many outgoings, and another man who could be on his way out of the club before the August 31 deadline is striker Souleymane Doukara.

The 25-year-old moved to the Yorkshire club back in 2014 after a long spell in Italy, but struggled to dispose star striker Chris Wood from the starting line-up last season, eventually ending up with just 17 starts in the league over the course of the campaign.

And having failed to appear in Christiansen’s squad for their first three games of the season, his future remains uncertain, and it’s uncertainty one unnamed Championship side are reportedly seeking to take advantage of, with reports suggesting that they have launched a bid for the forward.

However, Leeds should seriously consider keeping Doukara, despite the bolstering of their attacking department this summer, as the Frenchman gives them something slightly different to the other forwards.

Ultimately, Doukara still managed to net six goals for Leeds last term despite earning just 34 league appearances, of which 17 were from the substitute’s bench.

And the majority of those goals came at key times as well, with the 25-year-old netting in the wins over Burton, Rotherham, Reading, Preston (twice), and Nottingham Forest, three goals of which came from substitute cameos.

And two of his three assists were also from substitute appearances to further underline the impact he can have on proceedings off the bench, with Doukara contributing to both goals in the win over Burton, before sealing the victories against Forest and Preston.

Ultimately, only Wood scored more goals than the Frenchman last season, and with the New Zealand international's own future far from certain, letting Doukara go would see experience, goals, and attacking impact leave as well.

He may not get too many starts this term, such is the plethora of attacking talent at Christiansen’s disposal, but Doukara is an excellent option at Championship level, and has proven in the past to cause defenders problems when he’s on the pitch.

Leeds will have a big decision to make if there is further interest in the 25-year-old.
