After a recent slump, Leeds United are well and truly back on track in the Sky Bet Championship.
It was the end of September where Marcelo Bielsa’s men hit a stumbling block, winning just one game in five which then led to them dropping out of the automatic promotion places,
But the Yorkshire club are back on track – their impressive 2-1 victory away at Wigan Athletic last weekend saw them return to the top of the Championship table, after going unbeaten in their last three league games.
It’s fair to say that injuries to key players was the cause of Leeds’ mini downfall – the likes of Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez, Gaetano Berardi and Patrick Bamford all spent lengthy spells on the sidelines, with the latter out until Christmas.
The January transfer window is approaching, and Leeds will need to bolster their squad in preparation for the second-half of the campaign, where the Whites will be hopeful of promotion.
Bielsa’s men have recently been linked with the signing of AEK Athens forward Ezequiel Ponce, but perhaps there is another player in the Greek Super League that the Argentine should be looking at signing…
That player, is a player who was linked with a move to Elland Road last season when Leeds had Thomas Christiansen at the helm – PAOK Thessaloniki striker Aleksandar Prijovic.
The 28-year old, similarly to Ponce, has been on fire in the Greek League this season – he has scored 7 goals in 13 games for the side who currently sit at the top of the Greek Super League.
After netting 19 goals in 28 games last season, and 7 goals in 15 games the year before that, the Serbian international clearly knows where the goal is, and would offer Leeds a different dimension up front, standing at 6-foot-3.
