Mike Dean has today been appointed as referee for the crunch tie between Leeds United and Barnsley at Oakwell this weekend.

Everyone's favourite ref certainly divides opinion on the big scale and Twitter has been quick to poke fun at the official, who appears to have been demoted for the Championship for this weeks' fixtures.

The official has faced criticism over some of his performances in recent weeks, particularly over the sending off of West Ham United winger Sofiane Feghouli during the game against Manchester United over the Christmas period.

The Algerian's red-card was later rescinded and Dean's decision to not send off Ross Barkley for a particularly heavy tackle on Jordan Henderson during the Merseyside derby also came in for criticism.

And ahead of the crunch tie at Oakwell, many people have been both enjoying and loathing the decision to demote the 48-year-old to their game this weekend.
